Bankstown Mayor, Clr Khal Asfour is calling on residents to take full advantage of the many activities the City’s libraries have on offer throughout 2012.
“Gone are the days when libraries were simply places to borrow books or find quiet places to study", said the Mayor of Bankstown Clr Khal Asfour.
"Bankstown’s five libraries now run numerous programs to suit the many needs of our diverse community, including English conversation classes, pre school story time events and social knitting classes.
“I encourage residents to attend as almost all programs are free and some even include light refreshments," Mayor Asfour said.
Some of the events scheduled for February are as follows:
• Preschool Storytime at Bankstown Library, February 16, 11:00 AM?-?12:00 PM @ 62 The Mall• Let’s Talk English at Bankstown Library, February 16, 1:00PM-3:00PM@ 62 The Mall• Let’s Talk English at Greenacre Library, February 21, 1:00 PM?-?3:00 PM @ Community Place• Social Knit In at Chester Hill Library, February 21, 6:00 PM-8:00PM@12 Chester Hill Road• Youth Takeover at Panania Library, February 29, 5:30PM-7:30PM@Cnr Anderson Avenue and Tower Street
“These programs are also designed to give opportunities to residents to socialise, meet new people and enjoy group activities,” Mayor Asfour concluded.
